Dear Graduand

Congratulations on completing this leg of your academic journey at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts.  We hope that you will celebrate this accomplishment by being a part of the annual Graduation ceremony scheduled for November 30, 2024 @ 2:00 p.m. at the Vera Moody Concert Hall, Edna Manley College, School of Music.

Kindly see below information regarding the requirements of applying for Graduation. Each Graduand is required to complete and submit the “Graduation Registration Form” by Thursday, October 31, 2024. Please ensure that you indicate on your form if you plan to attend the ceremony or not. The completed from may be submitted by email to registry@emc.edu.jm  or to the Office of the Registrar at 1 Arthur Wint Drive. For ease of process, the Graduation Registration Form is attached.

Eligibility for Degree

Each student must successfully complete the requirements for his/her programme of study to be eligible to receive their degree/certificate. Students who successfully completed all the requirements for their programme of study June 30, 2024, will receive their degree/certificate immediately following the conclusion of the graduation ceremony.

Students who will be completing their degree requirements at the end of Semester One 2024, will be granted permission to participate in the graduation ceremony. However, their degree/certificate will be available for collection in 2025 pending successful ratification of all grades.

Registration & Graduation Fee

(October 1-31, 2024, Mondays-Fridays & 8:30am – 4:00pm).

Each Graduand must complete and submit the Graduation Registration Form no later Thursday, October 31, 2024. For Graduands participating in the Graduation ceremony, the Graduation Fee of J$25,000 must be paid no later than October 31, 2024, to ensure you receive invitations for your Guests to attend the graduation ceremony.

Graduands who have outstanding balances will be asked to pay these balances in addition to the Graduation Fee to be eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony. Fees may be paid by Credit Card (Visa/MasterCard/Keycard) or cash at the Finance & Accounts Department of at any NCB Branch into the Edna Manley College Account.

Proof of payment for Graduation Fee and Statement of Account from the Finance & Accounts Department showing zero balance must be submitted to the Registry Department to collect your Graduation Invitations.

Graduation Photoshoot

Date: Wednesday, November 27

Time: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Collection of Invitations

Date: Friday, November 25-29

Venue: Registry Department

Time 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Honours’ Award Ceremony

Date: Thursday, November 28

Venue: Vera Moody Concert Hall

Time: 6:00 pm

Graduation Rehearsal

Date: November 29

Graduation Day

Graduates must report to Room 13 by 12 noon to be gowned.

Photographs

The official photographer assigned to the College is Bryan Studios Limited. Photo sessions will be held on campus on Wednesday, November 27 from 10:00am – 4:00pm. Only students who submit their Graduation Registration Form to the Registry will be allowed to take photos. (See enclosed Photo flyer for more details).

THE COST OF $6,000.00 FOR THE PHOTO PACKAGE IS TO BE PAID DIRECTLY TO THE PHOTOGRAPHER ON TH DAY OF THE PHOTOSHOOT.

Please ensure that you wear the correct hood when you are taking your pictures.

Dress Code for Graduands

Females are to wear White or off- white dress of a simple design. Headgear and elaborate accessories are not appropriate.

Males are to wear Dark suit or dark pants with white shirt and dark necktie along with matching dark shoes.

Rehearsals

Dress Rehearsal will be held on Friday November 29, 2024 @ 2:00pm at Vera Moody Concert Hall.

Degrees / Diplomas / Certificates

“Dummy” Degrees/Diplomas/Certificates will be handed out during the Ceremony. This is to ensure that Graduates receive their correct Degrees/Diplomas/Certificates, and that gowns are returned at the end of the ceremony. Please note that only students in good financial standing with the College will be issued Degrees/Diplomas/Certificates. Certificates may be collected after the ceremony in the Registry department.

Guest Information – Arrival & Seating

  • Guests must present an invitation to be admitted inside the Vera Moody Concert Hall.
  • Guests must be seated 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony.
  • Guests must park in the designated parking areas.

Return of Gowns

Gowns must be returned immediately to the Dressing Room after the recessional.

Student Instructions for the Ceremony

  • Graduands do not need invitations to participate in the ceremony
  • Graduands must arrive at the College by 12:00noon
  • Upon arrival Graduands must report to Dressing Room 13 at the School of Music
  • Graduands will assemble by School and Programme of Study for the Procession
  • Graduands must follow the directions given by the assigned Graduation Marshalls
  • The ceremony will begin promptly at 2:00 p.m.
  • Family members ARE NOT allowed in the Dressing Room
  • Graduands are required to wear the Gown with appropriate Hood provided by the College.
  • Tassels are to be worn on the right side of the Cap. Once the degree is conferred, the tassels are moved to the left side.
