Principal Advisory 1
Dear EMCVPA Family
Further to yesterday’s COVID-19 Update and in concert with an advisory received from the Ministry of Education, I am writing to confirm that the decision was taken to suspend activities at the College, effective March 13, 2020 for 14 days. The situation is being monitored closely, and regular updates will be provided.
Our priority is the well-being of our community and as such, we are taking the necessary precautions to safeguard our constituents’ interests. In accordance, the following applies:
- Classes and regular activities have been suspended for the stated period. This presents implications for the completion of courses, and as such, may translate to the extension of the semester. Further updates on this will follow.
- The ancillary team will use tomorrow to finalize and begin to put into effect its campus-wide sanitization plan.
- A select team from the Finance and Accounts Department will use tomorrow to process salaries.
- To minimize the population density at our Halls of Residence, only International students are expected to remain on Hall during this period of suspended activities. Local students are therefore being asked to return to their residencies. However, exceptions may apply, with permission from the Hall Manager, where there is legitimate evidence that this option is not in the best interest of the student.
Attached are some materials from the World Health Organization (WHO) with tips that might prove useful in helping you or your child cope with stress during this period.
Do continue to adhere to the protective measures previously shared and stay tuned to the advisories as we endeavour to keep you informed.
