March 2, 2018 – You are invited to attend and provide coverage for the Opening Ceremony of Research in the Arts Day 2018 at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts. Research in the Arts Day will be celebrated on Wednesday March 7, 2018 at the Vera Moody Concert Hall 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Research Day 2018 is being observed under the theme, ‘Embracing Our Inheritance: Founders and Findings’. It forms part of the week-long observance of Founders Week 2018.
The programme for the day represents an opportunity to engage the EMCVPA community in taking a closer, more introspective look at the Founders. Accordingly, a number of persons who worked with, were taught by, or in other ways had a more personal connection with the Founders have been invited to share their knowledge. It is anticipated that this experience will enhance the way we honour our foundations in the quality of our artistic outputs.
Persons expected to participate in the Opening Ceremony include Mrs. Barbara Requa, Founder and teacher of current Principal, Dr. DeGrasse-Johnson; Mrs. Patricia Newland, daughter of Founder Mrs Sheila Barnett; Mrs. Alma Mockyen friend of dance tutor Mrs. Ivy Baxter; Rev John Scott, brother of Dennis Scott and Mrs. Norma Harrack Lecturer in the School of Visual Arts and widow of artist Mr. Fitz Harrack
We encourage you to confirm your participation by Tuesday March 6, 2018.
